What's Cooking?
Culinary 1
Beginning entry into our Culinary Program. Students will learn safety and sanitation, basic knife skills, nutrition, and food science principles involving baked goods, fruit, vegetables and grains.

Culinary 2
Students will divulge in ethnic cultural dishes around the world, 24 to be exact. Students will also explore food science principles and nutrition of meat, dairy, eggs, and pastry.

Culinary 3
Students will explore the world of the Professional Culinarian. They will dive into the hospitality business, where they will venture into catering to a large crowd and the gain knowledge of the responsibilities of working in a restaurant/like setting.

Students will develop skills and an understanding of basic culinary principles. This course includes classroom and laboratory experiences that can be applied to everyday life in cooking, nutritional needs, time management, and consumer wellness. The course content centers around the following duty areas: promoting food service and preparation management using the decision-making process; meeting basic needs by applying nutrition concepts; meeting health and safety needs in planning, preparing and serving food; maximizing resources when planning, preparing and serving food; promoting hospitality in food practices; and analyzing individual and family nutritional needs in relation to change. The development of employability skills, transition skills, time management skills, and vocational ethics is included in this course.
